The footage of this video was made by recording egrets at the aviary of the Queens Zoo. I wrote two different scripts for the video. One of these scripts is interpreted by a voice actor, and the other works a close caption that at some point diverges from the voiceover. The video starts with footage that leads you to believe it was recorded in the wilderness, slowly revealing that the egrets are kept in captivity. The interaction of the narrative given by the edition of the video with the two texts (voiceover and subtitles), generates a dislocation of in the progression of the story and makes the audience to try to absorb and judge all given information, and failing at it and having to choose at times what to listen to. The anthropomorphization of the egrets leads into implicit comments about distribution of information and political human migration.
